You’re camped out under your apple tree watching a woodpecker five feet away.
It’s the closest you have even been to one in your life.
And you wonder, ‘Geez, am I so lethargic that a woodpecker has no clue a living being is nearby?’
That’s when you should reach for a trusty source of inspiration:
“If you think adventure is dangerous, try routine. It is lethal.”
Paulo Coelho
Yes, it’s just a bird. And yes, you’re not raking in serious cash, but your writing life is not routine. And for that, you can be thankful.
oooh, I brake (& break) for woodpeckers! They come often to our feeders (red bellied & downy.) On rare occasions huge pilated woodpeckers. (Awhile back a pilated woodpecker hammered away right outside my window for a few days!) A real treat! 🕊🐾🕊🐾
I think I was watching a downy woodpecker today. I have to say, as I sat there with hot coffee and a warmed up cinnamon roll, I wasn’t wrestling with toooo much guilt, but I could see that some might. ;-> Thanks for checking in, V.
